What is Independent Advocacy?

 Independent Advocacy essentially means speaking with or on behalf of people who are disadvantaged, either individually or collectively, to obtain services and support which effectively meets their needs.

Independent Advocacy includes:

  • Support to understand choices and potential outcomes
  • Support to understand and exercise your rights

 

Examples of Work

Support

  • For parents facing Child Care Proceedings
  • For Victims, witnesses and perpetrators of crime
  • For people experiencing poor service provision

At Social Work/Health Assessments and Reviews

I am experienced in working with and on behalf of, people who consider themselves disadvantaged and vulnerable such as people who experience the following:

  • Physical Disability, Sensory Loss
  • Mental Health Conditions
  • Learning Disabilities/Difficulties
  • Survivors of Abuse
  • People recovering from Addiction
